Dermot Frost is Manager of the Research IT group in Trinity College Dublin. He is the Principal Investigator for TCD in the Digital Repository of Ireland. He has spent the past 15 years building complex IT systems for a multitude of research projects including IITAC (PRTLI), eINIS (PRTLI), ENACTS (FP6), HPC Europa (FP7) as well as large-scale computer, data management and visualisation systems for use in Trinity.
He has extensive experience in software development in scientific computing, mainly using C and MPI, to develop codes that scale to thousands of cores in parallel. He has also been involved in various digital humanities projects in TCD including the 1641 Depositions and the CIRCLE (Irish Chancery) Collections. Dermot has been involved in founding two successful IT SMEs in the last few years: Crème Software is a world leader in probabilistic exposure assessment and Annertech is a web development company that focuses on the Drupal platform.
In his spare time, Dermot is a member of the University of Dublin Choral Society where he sings in the bass section. He is an elected member of the Board of Trinity College Dublin and currently chair of the University's Human Resources committee.
