Digital Archives in Communities

Wednesday, June 20, 2018 to Thursday, June 21, 2018
University of Sussex

This two-day workshop forms part of Identity, Representation and Preservation in Community Digital Archives and Collections, a 12-month project funded by a British Academy Rising Star Engagement Award (2018) held by Dr. Sharon Webb (Principal Investigator). It is an intervention in three important areas; community archives, digital preservation and content representation. The first workshop, ‘Digital Archives in Communities - Practice and Preservation’, will be held at the Sussex Humanities Lab 20-21st June and will feature a number of speakers and presentations by members of community archives as well as practitioners and researchers in archiving, digital preservation and arts practice. DRI will be represented by our Digital Archivist Kevin Long, who will be speaking on DRI's experience of working with community archives. The workshop is open to volunteers who work in community archives, practitioners, researchers, activists, archivists, artists and anyone interested in community archives and digital preservation.
