William Buck is a Digital Repository of Ireland Postdoctoral Researcher working on the Letters of 1916 digital humanities research project located at An Foras Feasa, NUI Maynooth. William completed his PhD in Modern Irish History at Mary Immaculate College, Limerick in October 2013.  William’s PhD thesis was entitled ‘Aliens in Wartime: Analysing the reactions and responses to foreign nationalities and minority groups throughout Ireland during the First World War’. William graduated from the University of Sunderland, England, with a BA (Hons.) degree in Historical Studies in 2000.  He also completed an MA degree at the same university in 2001.  William’s primary role within the 1916 letters project team involves sourcing, proofing and adding historical context to letters, while utilising the digitalisation tools and methods in order to create a complete digital collection of letters for the project.
