Profile

Kate has just finished a Masters in Library and Information Studies. Her research focused mainly on open access and health information, as well as the development of institutional repositories and preservation metadata. She co-authored a report for the HSE on the management of their digital repository Lenus, and took part in a research project to explore the role of open access in the information-seeking behavior of Irish general practitioners.

Kate has an academic background in film and media studies. On completing a BA at Trinity College Dublin she gained a Masters in Media and International Conflict at UCD. She worked as a trainee archivist at the Irish Film Archive, where she was involved in numerous digitization and cataloguing projects. During her time at the National Library of Ireland she catalogued the Liam O’Leary Archive, an extensive collection of rare and foreign language film books. She has also worked at UCD Libraries and the National Irish Visual Arts Library at NCAD.
